About this blog
Birth is not an emergency.
This blog aims to encourage a pendulum swing in the other direction, away from the ubiquitous, automatic medical response, so that women are able and encouraged to have birth experiences as naturally as they choose--including safe and legal home birth attended freely by professionals, vaginal birth after Caesarian section (VBAC), vaginal breech and twin births.
All stories are published with author permission. The stories here are not meant to glorify parenthood, or mythologize natural birth. Nor are they meant to demonize the medical profession. This blog has no religious or anti-feminist agenda. This is simply a place to raise awareness and shine a light on the experiences of women and families.
Community is created and sustained by healthy births.
